Direct to Garment (DTG) works on any colour. Dark or white. There is no restriction.
But dye-sublimation (all over printing) garments are only white. With the help of all over printing technique you can decorate white based garment as much as you want. If you use black background t-shirt colour will be black. But inside of the garment will always stay white.
